Forty years ago when we first opened our doors, we had just 30 seats in our café. So it made sense to us to use produce on our doorstep and turn it into home-cooked dishes in a kitchen that was barely bigger than that of a farmhouse.

Forty years on, although we feed millions of hungry motorists each year, our approach to food has not changed.

It's important to us that our produce is local and seasonal and that food is home-cooked.

That’s why we make as much of our food as possible in our kitchens every day. It means we can choose what goes into recipes (and what doesn’t) and that the end result reaches you quicker, fresher and tasting better.

We serve lamb and beef from our family farm, source chicken and eggs from local producers and ensure that as far as possible dishes are influenced by seasonal produce – so don’t expect pumpkin soup in April or asparagus in October but we do promise hot cross buns at Easter.

Our Kitchen offers a range of home made soups, hot meals, a tempting deli counter, salad bar, home baked cakes plus fair trade tea and coffee and freshly squeezed fruit juice.
